Today's performance was a complete success, held in the center of a park in Dapeng. The venue was not large, but there were over a hundred spectators, all local residents. The success of the performance was actually beyond my expectations. I had originally thought that an English-language script would fail to spark interest, and that perhaps only a few people would attend. However, with the assistance of the announcer, hundreds of audience online and offline watched with great interest. The actors were outstanding; within just one day of rehearsal, they had become familiar with the script and almost memorized their lines. The coordination on stage was seamless, and they brought the characters I wanted to portray to life.
The script I wrote was designed to promote the concept of bird conservation and to foster a connection between people and birds. Therefore, performing in a community park setting was truly fitting. A more formal venue would not have achieved the effect I hoped for. What I particularly enjoyed was when all the actors came out to dance for the curtain call after the performance, as all the audience members, including the elderly and children, could participate. This communal involvement in the performance truly fulfilled my purpose. This performance was not just about presenting a script; it was more about bringing everyone into the experience, much like how I want everyone to join in protecting the environment and birds.
